Student Internship Programme @ CRC ​ BACKGROUND The Child Rights Centre (CRC) is a specialised research centre of the Chanakya National Law University, Patna, which is running in assistance with UNICEF since November 2018. The Centre's mission is to engage with child rights from a multi-disciplinary perspective and provide integrated technical support to different layers of institutional governance at local, state and national levels to protect child rights through Knowledge Management, Human Resource Development and System Strengthening. To this end, the Centre facilitate research support to different stakeholders involved in the child rights paradigm. In addition, it seeks to aid institutionalisation of best practices through research, collaboration, training, review, policy suggestions, field research, improving thereby, and access to justice for children and promoting research, advanced learning and advocacy and community action to strengthen child rights laws, policies and practices in Bihar and India. GOAL The goal of the CRC Student Internship Program is to supplement the CRC, CNLU mission of furthering the professional growth of those engaged in the protection of Child Rights in various fields. PURPOSE The purpose of the Child Rights Centre Student Internship Program is to provide students with an opportunity to gain workplace skills and learn more about the rights of the children.     Nelson Jones Researcher Nelson Jones is an activist within the movement to end human trafficking. Following a sex career and trafficking attempt, he chose to refocus his energies into promoting awareness against the epidemic. He began his efforts homeless, distributing flyers across his home state of North Carolina. In 2020, Nelson launched Trafficking Insights, where he conducts seminars, holds interviews with survivors and those who help them exit the lifestyle, sells merchandise, and more. Nelson is a former volunteer for Shield NC and currently assists Shannon Speaks as an outreach director.     Luis Perez Torner Researcher Luis has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master in Conflict Management and Development. He has undergone high specialization studies on Negotiation, Mediation and multi-stakeholder agreements facilitation among others. Since 2009, he has worked on peacebuilding projects related to participatory processes for urban restoration and the social prevention of violence in violence-prone areas in Mexico. Also, he has been a professor on the Theory of Conflict and reconciliation and Design and implementation of social proyectos in the faculty of Human Rights at the Cloister of Sor Juana University, as well as a trainer for the judiciary of the State of Guanajuato Mexico on a peaceful solution to controversies. He is also a certified Yoga instructor specialized in working with vulnerable groups such as immigrants, trauma survivors or deprived of liberty as well as people who suffer from depression, grief o any kind of addiction. Nowadays, he splits his time between his roles as the Deputy Director of the Alianza para la Regeneración Urbana AC (www.arumx.org ); his yoga classes and different proyectos of environment restoration of the rainforests of southeast Mexico.
